This past Monday we shot the 3rd annual Skinny Ski-A-Thon for the High Fives Foundation. It was a really fun day of following Greg Lindsey down the hill chasing his dream of 100 Daffys in one day.
The challenge was in trying to find different ways to shoot the Daffy while shooting strictly with the GoPro Hero3. Additionally the weather was not only variable with gaining elevation, but also each run proved to be considerably different weather-wise as well. I don’t even want to get into the snow conditions.
All in all the day was a blast and I’m happy that High Fives asked us to do it.
Video description from High Fives:
Shot 100% on the new HERO3® camera from GoPro.com.
On Monday, April 1, 2013 Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley, CA) hosted the SKINNY Ski-A-Thon from 9:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. There were 76 High Fives Foundation supporters present whom had collected donations on a per lap and flat rate basis to raise over $30,000 for the Tahoe based non-profit.
The event has morphed into a friendly competition between all that participate to raise money and set the bar higher each year in the name of philanthropy. Jordan Basile replaced last year’s SKINNY Ski-A-Thon champion, Greg Lindsey, for most runs with an astounding 51 (barely edging out Mattias Sullivan – 50 runs and Aaron Bushey – 49 runs). Team Survivor (consisting of Michelle Tuscany, Nicole Fisher, Amie Quirarte and Jessica Gates) took the crown as the top fundraiser team (bringing in over $3,500). Rounding out the awards, the top male fundraiser was Shawn Berger (gathering over $2,400 in donations) and the top female fundraiser was Kahlil Johnson (gathering over $2,000 in donations).
