A year ago in January I sat next to Danny for 33 days in the hospital hoping that he would get better. This January, we celebrated his return to snow and today we released his movie, “Moving Forward.” For the past couple of weeks we’ve been sitting behind the computer editing his movie and I couldn’t help, but to be brought back to the hospital sitting by Danny’s side every day as we worked on the video. When I heard about Sarah’s injury, my heart nearly broke through my chest as it swelled with emotion. Reliving those long days and endless nights in the hospital, as I thought about her every day, reminded me of the fragility of life.
When I posted Danny’s video to my facebook wall this morning, I wanted it to bring hope to everyone who was thinking about Sarah. Danny certainly gave me hope, but I knew deep down that not everyone recovers as well as Danny has.
Sarah was a true pioneer for this sport that I am so incredibly passionate about. I owe a lot to her as she helped pave the way for so many more and me. Who knows if I would have had all of these amazing opportunities if it weren’t for Sarah. She was driven, enthusiastic, strong willed, a hard worker, and my hero.
In memory of Sarah and as a small thanks to how she has inspired me I came up with an idea to sell stickers to help raise money for her fund. Sticker Pack has generously donated thousands of stickers. Kaya Turski created the sticker design. ALL of the proceeds made from these stickers will go to Sarah’s outstanding medical costs and related expenses through her husband, Rory Bushfield.
With the momentum that we have gained from the release of Danny’s movie and the similarities of Sarah’s injury to Danny’s, Shreddy Times has been kind enough to set up an online store. Each sticker cost $5.00. The price of the envelope and stamp comes to 47 cents. Each sticker bought will donate $4.53 to Sarah’s fund.

What a wonderful way to honor Sarah. She (and you) have been such huge inspirations to me, as a female park skier and skier in general. Sarah lived her life in a way that I aspire to everyday. I’ve never met Sarah, Rory, Danny or you but being that we all have the same thing in common, for the love of snow, it makes me feel in times like these we all need to band together. I love the thought of helping out Sarah’s family and I think this is a great idea to provide that help. We were so excited when “Moving Forward” came out and love the good vibes it put out. Such a lovely tribute. I never had the opportunity to meet Sarah, but have watched her compete in numerous events over the years, and to lose such an inspirational person, such a pioneer of women’s freeskiing is a terrible thing. To “Prob Shouldn’t Say”: Although “Believe in Sarah” started when Sarah was still in the hospital, it doesn’t mean that it is no longer relevant. Sarah embodied passion, commitment, dedication, beauty, and so much more than words can describe. So by continuing to “Believe in Sarah” we are continuing to believe in all that her life stood for and the legacy that she has left.

I just noticed on the xgames that Kaya Turski and some of the others with the believe stickers had a little forever at the bottom so that it reads “believe in Sarah forever” … just wondering if that came with, but it must have just been something they added.

Kaya was the one that originally designed the stickers and she was cutting the letters out of vinyl. She probably just cut the stickers out of vinyl and added them to the phrase. Those didn’t come from us.

Better to put it on the glass. You wouldn’t notice it until you took the sticker off, but if you took it off after 5 years your paint would fade just enough the the part of the paint that was blocked by the vinyl would be a shade or two darker than the rest and therefore the saying would more or less be permanently in your paint. This is really the case with all sticker types.
I ordered a sticker on the 20th just curious how much longer it would take to arrive in NY.
