On the River with Mike

On the River with Mike

Aug 13, 2010

When Mike showed me a rope swing that he had been eying from the road I couldn’t really understand 1) How it worked 2) Why anyone in their right mind would want to hit it. The next thing I knew he was pulling the swing down the tree and doing double and triple back flips off of it. Even after filming with him for 4 sessions at the river and editing all the footage, I still am amazed when I look at the edit. He has some kind of next level confidence and his air control and awareness are absolutely top notch. It’s always a pleasure filming with Mike. Here is what we shot most recently…

I wish somehow we could film him with this guy…. haha

Just one rope. Rope is suspended from a cable that is attached to two trees. Cops took it down the other day. I haven’t been there to confirm, just what I heard.

And I thought I knew a thing or two about flying off a rope…. Clearly I don’t. Its one thing for practiced divers to pull this stuff off. But off of a damn rope, spur of the moment? This guy seems to have an almost supernatural sense of space and time. Absolutely amazing.

This guy is unreal, so calm and focused, no fear. To the editor/producer of this clip, awesome job! You really told the story nicely. Track was ideal “fear, fear, fear”. Will be watching your shreddy times project.. keep it up.
